What Is Wasted Spark?
Q: Will SPDi Work With A Wasted Spark System?
A: Yes. In fact, SPDi has built in algorithms that will automatically detect wasted spark configurations and convert the signals to sequential spark. Sequential spark has energy/performance advantages over wasted spark. Return to Top.
Q: What Is Wasted Spark?
A: Wasted spark is a system that fires two cylinders at the same time. One cylinder fires on the compression stroke while the other cylinder fires on the exhaust stroke. Many cars such as Subaru have used wasted spark in their OEM configurations. Some ECUs such as Mega Squirt use wasted spark to keep costs down. SPDi spark is designed to work with wasted spark and sequential fire ECUs. Return to Top.
